Are you a new student, faculty, or staff member in the TMC? Are you a seasoned researcher who wants a refresher on what the library has to offer? Stop by for an introduction to the library's physical space and virtual resources. Attendees will be able to apply for a library card, learn how to set up their Resource Access, and register their TMC institutional badge for entry into the library. As well, a short tour of the building will be provided at the end of the session.

An Evening With Icons: Honoring Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. James "Red" Duke

Join the Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library for An Evening With Icons honoring Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. James “Red” Duke on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 6:30 - 9:30 pm, this event will take place on the first floor of the Texas Medical Center Library, located at 1133 John Freeman Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030.

The master of ceremonies will be Craig Roberts, a well-known local television and radio personality. Four upscale Houston restaurants will provide a sumptuous buffet. Fine wines and champagne will also be served. Valet parking will be provided.

The Friends is a 501(c)3 organization whose Board of Directors consists of prominent healthcare professionals, medical educators, and community leaders in Houston. Its mission is to support and promote the TMC Library, a premier leader in the delivery of biomedical information, for the Texas Medical Center, Houston, Texas, and beyond.

The Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library are privileged and honored to celebrate the global contributions of Dr. Cooley and Dr. Duke.

Proceeds will support the Texas Medical Center Library’s print and electronic collections.  An Evening With Icons is chaired by Herbert L. Fred, MD, MACP.

RefWorks

RefWorks is a web-based citation management program that allows you to organize references in one convenient location, and also format your paper and bibliography. RefWorks contains several hundred citation output styles such as APA and AMA, in addition to individual journal submission formats. This class will teach you to set up an account, import citations, build your bibliography and format your paper. *It is highly recommended that participants in this class have experience searching PubMed or other databases, and using Microsoft Word.
