Elsevier will be phasing out MD Consult in 2014.
Since the database will neither be updated nor fully supported technically during its last
year, The TMC Library will not renew for 2014; MD Consult's last day here will be this October 31st.
Elsevier has introduced a new product,
ClinicalKey, which is priced beyond the reach of many libraries,
including this one-- so, instead, we are initiating independent
subscriptions to MD Consult resources that can be licensed individually-- a solution that provides both continuity and cost-effectiveness.
Most
of the journals, including the Clinics of
North America series, are now in ScienceDirect. Most
of the medical textbooks will be in ebrary, and some resources will be accessible via their own publishers. A few titles will
not be available outside of ClinicalKey.
MD Consult has been a great collection for TMC’s medical students and residents, and many of us will miss it; but the Library provides a number of other, equally dependable and authoritative clinical reference materials for your use. We will post a Research Guide to link you to former MD Consult titles, and also to recommend some alternatives to those that could not be retained.
