NIF Webinar on Mind Research Network and BrainMap
The Neuroscience Information Framework (NIF) will hold a webinar to discuss Mind Research Network and BrainMap projects on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11:00 A. M. PDT.
The following is a description of the webinar:
Drs. Angie Laird and Jessica Turner will discuss a cooperative project between the Mind Research Network and BrainMap projects to consistently gather and annotate fMRI data. Both projects represent cognitive processes using the CogPO ontology, a community standard for representing cognitive paradigms. CogPO is used because while the experimental psychology and cognitive neuroscience literature may refer to certain behavioral paradigms by name (eg. the Stroop paradigm or the Sternberg paradigm) or by function (a working memory task, a visual attention task), these paradigms can vary tremendously in the stimuli that are presented to the subject, the response expected from the subject, and the instructions given to the subject. Disentangling the various paradigms into their components may help to disentangle the complex data from fMRI experiments.
Background on BrainMap:
The BrainMap Project is developed at the Research Imaging Institute of the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. BrainMap was conceived in 1988 and originally developed as a web-based interface. After more than 20 years of development, BrainMap has evolved into a much broader project whose software and data have been utilized in numerous publications. BrainMap provides not only data for meta-analyses and data mining, but also distributes software and concepts for quantitative integration of neuroimaging data. PubMed Improvements - Results and Citation Manager Software
You can streamline sending data to a citation manager by using a new feature in PubMed. The PubMed Send to menu has been updated to include a "Citation Manager" selection in the drop down menu. Once you display your results in PubMed, go to the Send to menu and select Citation Manager, then click on the Create File button to download a text file (with a nbib extension) in the tagged MEDLINE format.
Questions about this new Pubmed feature?

Data Governance: Understanding the Issues and Rights Associated with Your Digital Data
Are you aware of how ownership of digital research data can impact how you use these data?
How other people use data you have collected? how the data rights are determined in collaborative research?
Copyright rules governing data vary from one country to another, making data ownership in international collaborations particularly difficult to understand.
Join us for a lecture on Understanding the Issues and Right with your Digital Data by Geneva Henry, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Scholarship at Rice University on April 25, 2012 from 12:99 - 1:00 at the BRC Library, 5100 Main, Room 202.
