This Thursday: An Evening With Icons Event

Join us this Thursday, February 16,  from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. for the Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library annual fundraiser, An Evening With Icons: Honoring Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. James “Red” Duke.

The Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library are privileged and honored to celebrate the global contributions of Dr. Cooley and Dr. Duke.

Proceeds will benefit the Texas Medical Center Library print and electronic collections.  An Evening With Icons is chaired by Herbert L. Fred, MD, MACP.

An Evening With Icons: Honoring Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. James "Red" Duke

Join the Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library for An Evening With Icons honoring Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. James “Red” Duke on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 6:30 - 9:30 pm, this event will take place on the first floor of the Texas Medical Center Library, located at 1133 John Freeman Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030.

The master of ceremonies will be Craig Roberts, a well-known local television and radio personality. Four upscale Houston restaurants will provide a sumptuous buffet. Fine wines and champagne will also be served. Valet parking will be provided.

The Friends is a 501(c)3 organization whose Board of Directors consists of prominent healthcare professionals, medical educators, and community leaders in Houston. Its mission is to support and promote the TMC Library, a premier leader in the delivery of biomedical information, for the Texas Medical Center, Houston, Texas, and beyond.

The Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library are privileged and honored to celebrate the global contributions of Dr. Cooley and Dr. Duke.

Library Fundraising Event, June 8, 2011

Join the Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library for an event of Magic, Mentalism & Wine: A Mind - Boggling, Memorable Mix on June 8, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm at the Texas Medical Center Library located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center in the Jesse H. Jones Library Building, 1133 John Freeman Blvd., Houston, TX 77030.

 Featuring John “Ace” Passmore, MD., FACC, Magician and Donna Passmore, Attorney and Palm Reader who have performed an award-winning magic act across America and L. Maximilian Buja, MD., Oenophile, Executive Director of the TMC Library. Dr. Buja is an enthusiastic gourmand and oenophile.

 A silent auction is currently available for online bids. Get an early start by participating in the online auction prior to the event at:

Tickets for this event are: $100 per Person, $175 per Couple, $500 per Super Friend.

Murder Past Due: Up Close with the Author will be held on December 1, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on the second floor of the TMC Library.

National bestselling mystery author Dean James, PhD, aka Miranda James, will be signing his most recent book: Murder Past Due; L. Maximilian Buja, MD will speak on The Magic and Mystery of Wine.
